Veneto Vetro

Cromoglass® is the digital glass printing technology offered by Veneto Vetro to its customers: a unique solution that combines the durability of ceramic paints with the versatility and quality of digital printing.

This technology, compared to traditional screen-printing on glass, which requires the construction of a frame and a passage for each colour, is clearly the most advantageous solution from all perspectives: from the economic to production times, and the aesthetic quality and performance of the finished product. With Cromoglass®, we can quickly and easily reproduce drawings or paintings on glass from a simple digital file. This technology allows us to achieve unparalleled results in any type of application, both indoors and outdoors, meeting any aesthetic and functional requirement.

Strengths

Durability of colors and high safety standards

Thanks to the use of special ceramic glass paints, Cromoglass® guarantees a long life of its products as well as a high aesthetic quality of printing. Even if exposed to UV rays and in the presence of adverse environmental conditions, such as exposure to bad weather or temperature variations, Cromoglass® printed glass maintains the characteristics of the glass and retains the colours.

The glass achieved with our digital printing technology, following the application of ceramic paints, which are already very resistant, are then subject to the tempering process, thus becoming genuine safety glass as per UNI EN 12150. Veneto Vetro holds all the certification to endorse that Cromoglass® printed glasses are in line with European safety and resistance parameters.

Any design or pattern at your disposal

Cromoglass® provides maximum customisation of any glass surface starting from individual graphic projects proposed by the customer: graphics, vector illustrations, images such as photographs or high resolution scans.

In the event that the customer does not have a precise idea of the design he or she intends to create, Veneto Vetro offers an extensive catalogue of customisable design patterns. The six-color ceramic ink jet ensures excellent image resolution on the glass surface and maximum durability over time, recreating infinite hues.

High resolution for top quality projects

The glass with Cromoglass® printing, besides having great visual impact true design elements, stand  apart for the high resolution of their images and the quality of the ceramic paints used. Thanks to the use of certain patterns, the glass can also contribute to maintaining privacy in certain environments.

Finally, Cromoglass® allows us to meet not only aesthetic, but also functional needs: printing on selective high-performance glass can improve thermal insulation and comfort by controlling the solar factor. By choosing Veneto Vetro and its digital glass printing technology, high quality, safety and aesthetic standards will be guaranteed for any project.

Pioneers in digital printing

Veneto Vetro is the first company in Italy to acquire digital glass printing technology using ceramic paints.
The experience of our company, a pioneer in this field, is considered by its customers as a guarantee of quality andreliability .

From a single piece to large quantities

The Cromoglass® digital printing process, thanks to the elimination of frames, films and other tools related to traditional screen-printing, drastically reduces fixed costs, allowing us to manufacture  single, unique pieces or small-scale productions. It is therefore a versatile product that can be offered to both private and contract customers.

Furthermore, Cromoglass can be applied to any flat or curved glass surface destined to be tempered, for interiors or exteriors. All standard glass processes (cutting, grinding, drilling, bending, layering) are carried out before the printing process and do not obstruct the image. All printed glass is subsequently tempered and, on request, they can be submitted to the HST.

The maximum size that can be printed with ceramic paint is 2600 x 5700 mm. Thanks to its flexibility in terms of quantity and dimensions, Cromoglass® is therefore suitable for customizing large continuous walls, typical of contemporary construction. There is also the possibility of subdividing an image into parts to be applied to different portions of glass, to be recomposed later according to the desired dimensions to recreate mosaics and compositions.

Ceramic paints for glass

Cromoglass® technology exploits the ceramic glass paints developed by Ferro.

The individuality of this type of paint is the composition: after making a print with these inks, glass is subject to the tempering process, during which colours are completely absorbed by the glass itself, creating vivid and realistic designs. This formula is also suitable for curved, laminated and stratified glass. The paints used by Cromoglass® also provide glass with features such as thermal and solar control.

Other strengths of these glass ceramic paints are:

Technology

The innovative Cromoglass® digital glass printing technology is a unique solution that combines the durability of ceramic paints with the versatility, quality and high resolution of digital printing.

Compared to traditional screen printing on glass, which requires the construction of a frame and a roll passage for each colour, Cromoglass® is clearly the most advantageous solution from all perspectives: from the economic to production times, and the aesthetic quality and performance of the finished product. With Cromoglass®, today we can quickly and easily reproduce drawings or paintings on glass from a simple digital file. Cromoglass® allows us to achieve unparalleled results in any type of application, both indoors and outdoors, meeting any aesthetic and functional requirement.

Productive Process

The digital printing process is a highly specialized, fast and efficient process which is composed by of the following steps:

Standard processing of glass

This preliminary phase involves all the processes required by the client, such as: cutting, grinding, drilling, bending and layering.

Graphic file processing

The source file (pdf, tif or jpeg) supplied by the client or proposed by Veneto Vetro’s technical department is processed by means of a specific software, which makes it suitable for printing in terms of definition and colour rendering. For optimal results, the resolution and size of the source file must be suitable for the work to be done.

Digital printing

Direct printing on glass takes place by means of a large-scale inkjet plotter with 24 print heads that moves over the surface to be printed applying six different liquid ink colours at the same time. The special Double Vision technique makes it possible to print 2 different superimposed layers on glass on a single side, so that the printed colors look different on the two sides of the glass.

Tempering

After printing, the glass is tempered or hardened, so that the image remains unchanged over time even if it is subjected to direct UV rays or atmospheric agents. The ink contains special particles and inorganic pigments that are fused inside the glass at high temperature and retain their vividness over time. To obtain better color rendering, extra-clear glass is recommended.

Lamination and assembly in industrial double glazing

Once the tempering cycle is completed and after having cooled the digitally printed glass, upon customer request, they can be laminated and / or assembled in double glazing.

Quality control and delivery

Once printing is completed, the glass is carefully checked and suitably prepared for packaging. The material is identified with a label and bar code for traceability and it is dispatched. This last phase completes the production cycle and ensures client satisfaction and final quality of both the product and the service.

Partners

As evidenced by the projects implemented with Cromoglass®, the quality of digital glass printing by Veneto Vetro is of the highest level.

It is no coincidence that the very first reference of the technology that Cromoglass® exploits is the parent company producing its digital printer, Dip-Tech.

Dip-Tech is the most advanced company in the world for the development of technology for digital glass printing: its name in itself is a guarantee for the success of any project. Today, Dip-tech is part of the international Ferro group, as a further guarantee that the quality of the raw materials that our company uses is the highest in the market. Other trusted partners are AGC and Pilkington. Our Company entrusts these enterprises with the procurement of the best raw materials.

Thanks to the presence of ceramic inks, these glass are also compliant with EN ISO 12543-4: 2011 as safety glass resistant to high temperatures and humidity. Upon request, our company can issue the declarations of conformity to certify the quality and the compliance with the European regulations of our glass products. The Veneto Vetro’ staff is at your complete disposal for every need.
